Open Studios offer you a chance to see behind the scenes in the studio of a member design artist of Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre.
KoiToYa is holding an open studio and workshop event to launch the opening of the workshop space.
You will be able to see works and ongoing furniture projects made by the designer/maker Hiroshi Yamaguchi, as well as the evening woodworking class space and works made by students. Anyone is welcome.
As well as the open studio, adults and children aged from 5 years old, are invited to join the workshop to make Japanese wooden chopsticks using Japanese planes (kanna).
Volunteer staff will assist adult and child participants to make wooden chopsticks which participants can take home with them. Various timbers will be available to choose from, and sustainable natural oil will be used to finish.
Cost is $5.00 per person. No previous bookings are required – Limit 100 participants. A wait may be required during busy times.
