OPEN STUDIO - SOPHI SUTTOR
Saturday, 29 October 2016 @ 11am - 4 pm | 16 Buchanan Street, Narrabundah
Open Studios offer you a chance to see behind the scenes in the studio of a member design artist of Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre.
Sophi Suttor examines the loss of habitat and its replacement by the generic. She looks at specimens through the filter of the work of Rohan Ellis and produces fragments of the generic as a demonstration of how easily we lose the detail and cultural stamp of our personal landscape.
Sophi explores all things clay and glaze firing in white earthenware using commercial layered glazes. Her subject matter ranges from the sculptural to the prosaic. She makes textured platters to explore visual depth in glazing, and sculptural pieces made of diverse slipcase items from the fifties to create new realities.
