Smooth Translation | 5 nov | 6 nov
Saturday, 5 November 2016 @ 12:15pm, 1:30pm & Sunday 6 November @ 11am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm | National Portrait Gallery | King Edward Terrace, Parkes
In this new performance by Canberra choreographer James Batchelor commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, the moving body is a construction site. Smooth Translation is a process of receiving and transmitting form.
An ode to master sculptor Barbara Hepworth, the work examines carving as an entry point to the interiority of matter. It is a choreography of sculpting, building and forming a landscape, a moment of translation from one body to another.
