James Carpenter

James Carpenter (born 1949) is an American light artist and designer. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in sculpture in 1972. He works at James Carpenter Design Associates and was selected to design new public spaces and visitor amenities for the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

James Carpenter Design Associates (JCDA) is a cross-disciplinary design firm working at the intersection of art, engineering and the built environment.  It is recognized for its distinctive use of natural light, which serves as the foundation of its design philosophy.
