DESIGN Canberra proudly presents Move, a collaboration between emerging industrial designer Andrew Oliver and Cox Architecture.

  An empty foyer. A festival to ACTivate. An Honours project ready to be born. This was the beginning of the collaboration between Cox Architecture and Andrew Oliver. Andrew submitted a proposal for his Move project to Craft ACT, as part of the ACTivate component of Design Canberra. Craft ACT married Andrew with the space Cox had available and we began working together to form an exhibition that would sit happily in the space.

Cox Architecture is one of the most awarded architectural practices in Canberra. Cox uses creative and innovative design responses to elevate projects above the ordinary. For over 40 years the Cox practice has been passionately interested in how buildings and places are inhabited and experienced, and how we can enhance urban connectivity.

Andrew Oliver is an emerging industrial designer, currently completing his honours year at University of Canberra. He also has an interest in urban connectivity, particularly in modes of sustainable transport. Andrew is fascinated by the concept of circular design – always striving for a better, more sustainable design.

The links between the two seem easy and natural. As Andrew’s work inhabits the space there is a synergy of design philosophy – innovation, connectivity, sustainability, beauty.
