Beads, Beaded, Beading Conference

Australian National University

This conference focuses on research into Indigenous Australian jewellery-making. With a variety of presentations by artists, curators and researchers the conference will highlight recent developments in artistic practice and research.

We are extremely excited to have Lola Greeno as the keynote speaker at the Beads, Beaded, Beading Conference hosted by Australian National University.

Greeno specialises in traditional Tasmanian Aboriginal shell necklace threading, a skill passed down from her mother and maternal grandmother. In 2014, Greeno was recognised with Craft Australia’s Living Treasure Master of Australian Art Award. In 2015 she was entered on the Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women for service to Aboriginal Affairs and the Arts.

Costs are $100 full registration, $50 for students, and free for First Nation peoples. Registration includes full catering and two days of programming.

This conference is funded by the College of Arts and Social Sciences and supported by the Centre for Digital Humanities Research, at the Australian National University.
