Beyond the verbal

Exhibition

This exhibition brings together paintings, drawings and prints by a multicultural group of three artists and the art made by children from the Wiradjuri Preschool, at the University of Canberra as part of the intercultural Beyond the Verbal project. Over three days the children worked with the artists to make a collaborative work, focusing on themes of friendship, kindness, special objects and places. Each day of the workshops, during the creative process, which included play and experimentation with materials, the artists and children discussed the themes and reflected on what they made together. The artefacts created during the workshops are celebrated here, in a public exhibition at the Finnish Embassy Canberra alongside the artists own works which join and extend the discussion about the project’s themes.
