Ceramic Handbuilding with Girl Nomad Ceramics

Join Richilde Flavell from Girl Nomad Ceramics in an afternoon exploring the tactile quality of clay. Feel the varying textures and see the range of colours available in a selection of clays. Together we will make a collection of bowls using handbuilding techniques. These bowls will be a able to be used in your home and kitchen.

This workshop is suitable for people aged 16 and over and people who have some or no experience with clay.

After creating your forms in the workshop, Richilde will take your work back to her studio and complete the making process for you by doing the following: 1. Allow the work to air dry 2. Fire for the first time – bisque fire 3. Glaze your work 4. Fire for the second time – glaze fire to stoneware in a reduction atmosphere. 5. Sand the bottoms so they don’t scratch your table 6. Return them to Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre for you to collect.
