Coast to Coast
In celebrating 100 years since the establishment of the Bauhaus we “embrace architecture and sculpture and painting in one unity“ (Walter Gropius, 1919).
Philip Cox, founder of Cox Architecture, and colleague Rodney Moss see painting as part of the creative endeavour of the practice of architecture. They view painting as they view design – an emotional response to the environment with an emphasis on the spontaneity of the creative act. Coast to Coast illustrates the diversity of the Australian landscape. Rodney looks at the sheer size and rugged beauty of the Pilbara area in Western Australia, while Philip explores the relative tranquility of the South Coast of NSW.
