
Koitoya Design: Open Studio
Hiroshi Yamaguchi runs a wooden furniture and craft making studio called KOITOYA for commissioned furniture and designed works as well as regular woodwork evening classes. Hiroshi aims to add simple and authentic Japanese detail to his design and skilful method in his joinery work. His background in forestry leads him to seek sustainable timbers obtained locally, including street trees.
Open workshop will be back again with new item! Popular chopsticks making workshop and Small Spoon making workshop will be available. Hiroshi will have small crafts ready for sell.
Adults and children aged from 5 years old, are invited to make Japanese wooden chopsticks using Japanese planes (kanna). Various timbers will be available and sustainable natural oil will be used to finish.
Chopsticks making: $5 each, 40~60 min
Small Spoon making: $20 each, 40~60 min, limited to 20 applicants
