Lunchtime workshop: Risograph Printing 101 – Postcard Prints
Investigate the unique and colourful aesthetic of this fun and eco-friendly method of printmaking, with the quick-fire creation of your own original layered print – inspired by the form, tone and colour in Frank Hinders ‘Star Ceiling’. A wide variety of materials will be provided for mark making, stamping, painting, drawing and collage – no previous experience required. You will leave with a set of postcard prints, a ‘how-to-riso’ booklet and riso ink colour charts.
What is risograph? Riso is a stencil printing method, which merges the principles of screen printing and photocopying. An image file is scanned by the machine and burnt onto a master stencil, this is then wrapped around a coloured ink drum. The drum then rotates at high speed, pushing the soy-ink through the screen and onto the paper as it passes through.
