Midnight Hotel, Autograph Collection is proud to present a special display of the work of DESIGN Canberra 2020 designer-in-residence, Kirstie Rea. Rea has created a limited edition set of her signature glass blankets that will be on display in the Midnight Hotel ‘Mark’ display box during the festival. Guests of DESIGN Canberra and Midnight Hotel are also given the chance to take home their own piece of contemporary Canberra design with the festival’s fourth annual design auction, in which Kirstie’s work will be available for bidding. Artworks by established and emerging Canberra designers, artists and makers will be auctioned via online bidding, creating a unique opportunity for collectors from all over the world to own a piece designed and created by one of Canberra’s most exciting designers. The online auction will open 9 November at 6 PM. Bids close 9:45pm on Saturday 28 November.

Acclaimed glass artist Kirstie Rea was selected as the DESIGN Canberra 2020 designer-in-residence for the quality of her work and the rigour of her practice. With a career as an independent maker spanning more than 30 years, Kirstie’s extraordinary practice has been recognized at both a national and international level, featuring in numerous solo and group shows, a recent survey exhibition and esteemed public and private collections.
