New Terrain in an Old World: Floor talk & Opening event

Floor talk & Opening event

Floor talk / 5.15 -5.45pm Zoë Veness will discuss the new body of work developed for her solo exhibition New Terrain in an Old World, which is currently showing at Craft ACT as part of Women in Design.

“Working predominantly in the field of contemporary jewellery I am preoccupied by notions of form and space, process-orientated approaches to object-making and body object relations.” Zoë Veness

Opening event / 6.00pm Solo exhibition by Zoë Veness, contemporary art jewellery that explores new approaches to making objects since relocating from the South Coast of NSW to Hobart Tasmania in July 2016. Extending her meticulous process of paper folding to create looped forms, a process developed over many years, Zoë investigates the use of symbolism that responds to a renewed sense of place marked by tensions between nature and culture. This exhibition is supported by an Australia Council Arts Project Grant.

Presented by Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre as part of Women in Design.

Opening words by Mary Featherston, influential designer and design educator.
