Angela Bakker and Sarah Murphy

Open studio

With separate qualifications in Photomedia and Gold & Silversmithing, currently Angela primarily works with precious and non-precious metals, reusing and repurposing materials as much as possible. Her work reflects a simplicity of line and form, carried through both her objects, sculptural pieces and jewellery. Most recently Angela has been working on using a number of inherited jewellery pieces from a family estate, repurposing and designing to bring a new use and life to the pieces. She is also continuing working on her series of vessels with ‘drawing’ cutouts to compliment objects as well as a number of small sculptures.

Angela will have a number of jewellery pieces drawn from her recycling and reuse of existing and inherited jewellery. There will also be prototypes of objects and small bowls available.

Sarah Murphy received her Bachelor of Visual Arts, School of Art, Australian National University – Major Gold and Silversmithing and since then has been a finalist in various contemporary jewellery award exhibitions. She will be happy to chat about setting up and maintaining a studio space and what type of basic equipment you might need to get started. There will also be a selection of her work available to purchase.
