Alice van Meurs of the fashion label 'Edition' with Phoebe Porter jewellery pop-up

Open studio

Join this Open Studio on 12 November from 10am-4pm at 12 Warrai Place, Waramanga.

EDITION began during Alice Sutton’s final year of studying Fashion at the Canberra Institute of Technology in 2011. From there, she worked in a studio at CIT for graduate designers, had a studio at the Australian National Capital Artists (ANCA) Dickson campus and currently has a studio in Waramanga ACT.

Each EDITION collection explores sustainable design and zero waste pattern making. Alice’s zero waste pattern making called ‘Selvedge to Selvedge’  has informed the design aesthetic of EDITION. A key aspect of the design process is uncertainty as the final garments silhouettes are determined in the process not through drawings.

Through each collection the EDITION label evolves and the unique, multi-functional garments create a new language for sustainable design. All EDITION garments are made in Canberra.

Phoebe Porter is a contemporary Jeweller based in Canberra. Since 1998, she has been developing her intimate knowledge of materials, often working with titanium, stainless steel and aluminium, which she combines with gold, silver and other precious elements. She has exhibited work across Australia, including solo shows at Craft ACT, Craft Victoria and e.g.etal, Melbourne. She has also been included in group exhibitions in Japan, Germany, the UK and USA. Phoebe will join Alice as a shared Open Studio on the 12th of November.
