Open studio

Helen Keogh’s Open Studio is open at 10:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday, 5 November at 8 Lynd Street, Downer, ACT.

Helen Keogh Design is a textile studio that creates in hand woven, unique, scarves, wraps and bags using beautiful natural fibres like silk and linen. Each piece is made as an heirloom piece and respects the tradition of hand weaving with a contemporary edge in colour and design. Kerry-Anne Chapel from Girls Own Adventure Textiles will add to the Open Studio Day with her individual scarves and cushion covers made from Japanese recycled silk kimonos.

Both Helen’s Textile and Painting studios will be open giving visitors a glimpse of  how the processes of art and design come about. Her triptych painting “Mutton Bird Wreck”  which was a finalist in this year’s Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize will be on show.

 There will handwoven scarves, wraps, bags and a new range of digitally printed silk scarves for sale as well as KerryAnn’s recycled silk kimono scarves, jackets and cushion covers for sale. There will be demonstrations of tapestry weaving along with a loom set up for people to have a go at weaving.

 Free Scarf Tying Workshop

Come to our free Scarf Tying Workshop. Participants will get to enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbly as they discover all the fun and stylish ways to wear silk scarfs. Our presenters will demonstrate on models and participants will be encouraged to try out the different techniques for themselves.
