Open studio: KiranDesigns
KiranDesigns is a small sustainable art business by Kirandeep Grewal which celebrates art in wearable items and wall pieces. The plain white silk is sourced from India and after the dyeing process the garments (kaftans) are stitched in Canberra by Sarah Goodchild. All the silk scraps are stored separately according to colours which are then up-cycled for paintings and sculptures. Grewal uses various techniques for gently blending colours and creating textures within her textile work. She also runs art workshops for Migrant Women in the Gungahlin area supported by Gungahlin Arts.
