ANCA Mitchell Studio no. 2, Story and Landscape Maker

Lan Nguyen-hoan’s work explores landscapes of the mind. Visually, this manifests in the form of carefully constructed scenes that utilise gold and silversmithing techniques. Furthermore, these landscapes have become settings within a fictional story, with the process of creative writing being intertwined with her visual art practice. A focal point in Lan’s making involves investigations into how a hammer and anvil can manipulate metals. The metal components are made as multiples, brought together to create a cohesive whole. As part of the open studio event Lan will give a demonstration of how she makes miniature pine trees from 2mm wire.

Lan’s studio will be open as part of ANCA Mitchell open studios.
