Blackburn Studio and Lea Durie Ceramics

Open studio

Blackburn Studio and Lea Durie’s Open Studio is open at 10:00am – 4:00pm on 5 November at 35 Simpson Street, Watson ACT.

Working from her home studio in Canberra, Lucy produces small batch ceramics. These include functional pieces such as vases, planters, plates and bowls, as well as decorative items and jewellery. Lucy enjoys working with a range of clays, producing both hand built and wheel thrown pieces. Her aesthetic is simple with a focus on texture and simple mark making, using a neutral colour palette.

Lea Durie makes contemporary and tactile functional ceramic objects for the home, with strong simple forms and colours of the earth, forests and mountains. Lea’s background as a landscape architect and designer can be seen in her work. Visitors can expect to see the duo selling a range of works; a range of hand made ceramic jewellery, functional pieces such as vases, plates, and bowls, ceramic Christmas decorations and more.

DESIGN Canberra acknowledges the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the ACT and surrounding areas. We honour and respect their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this country and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region. We aim to respect cultural heritage, customs and beliefs of all Indigenous people.
