Michael Armstrong completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997 before enlisting into the Australian Army. During this time, Armstrong was employed in a variety of roles and went on four operational tours (Timor, Afghanistan, Iraq, Counter Terrorism Unit). In addition to his military qualifications he also holds a Master of Cyber Security.

In 2014 Armstrong undertook the Master of Arts program at the University of Southern Queensland. He currently maintains a studio in Canberra and participates in a range of national and international shows. Since re-emerging into the artworld in 2016, he has won and shortlisted in a range of Australian art prizes.

Michael’s studio is open as part of ANCA Mitchell open studios.
