Open Studio: Rachel Theodorakis

ANCA Dickson Studio no. 15, Sculpture

Rachel Theodorakis is an emerging sculptor and graduated from ANU School of Art & Design in 2017. During her studies she was nominated for the International Sculpture Center Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award, along with four EASS Awards. Rachel’s practice is grounded by Buddhist Philosophy and she explores the ideas of mortality, identity, transitions, ritual, culture and tradition. Rachel works across the mediums of bronze casting, constructed steel, plaster and found objects. Her most recent works utilise bones as icons of self. Although Rachel’s work is created through deeply personal narratives, once in the public domain she intends the viewer to experience it in their own subjective way. The only evidence left of her personal narrative lies within the titles.

Rowan’s studio will be open as part of ANCA Dickson open studios.
