Valerie Kirk and Akie Haga’s Open Studio is open at 10:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday, 19 November at 12 Todd Street, O’Connor.
Valerie Kirk is considered to be an important international figure in the world of contemporary tapestry. As an artist, writer, teacher and public figure she has made a significant contribution, forging valuable and tangible links with the Scottish tradition and global field.
Akie Haga is a Canberra-based glass artist who values the high level of skill and unique artistic expression that characterises the art and craft of her native Japan. She utilises Flameworking techniques to melt glass rods with a table top torch, and sculpt and manipulate the molten glass.
Visitors can expect demonstrations, conversations with the artists around ideas, design development and production of the work, small affordable works for sale and a larger exhibition works on display and for sale.
