Play for a vital and sustainable city
The last decade or so has seen an exponential rise in demand for better opportunities for play and for less structured and more diverse types of play. The negative impacts of risk aversion, sedentary lifestyles, the commodification and standardization of pleasure, less time in nature, play deprivation in children, device driven and mediated engagement, social isolation and an overworked society have seen a resounding return to play and it’s possibilities. The Play Symposium will explore the principles and practices needed to build the world’s most amazing play space and then apply these learnings and imaginings to the design of this play space for our own lakeside location at west basin.
