Public Talk: Mary Featherston

Mary is an Interior Designer and was one of the inaugural inductees into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame. Mary was the life and design partner of Grant Featherston which included collaborations with iconic Australian mid-century architects Robin Boyd and Roy Grounds. Mary is also an influential and sometimes controversial designer of child-centred learning environments and is a Fellow of the Design Institute of Australia and a Senior Fellow, University of Melbourne. While Mary retired from commercial design practice in 2012 she continues to be involved in school design research projects, university teaching and with her advocacy for children and good design through the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Foundation and the Robin Boyd Foundation.

Mary will be introduced by Ashley Eriksmoen, Head of Furniture at the ANU School of Art & Design. Ashley has been invited to open the talk in recognition of Design Canberra 2017 valued Gold Sponsor the ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences.

Many thanks to Silver Sponsor Radford College for their generosity in supporting Mary's visit to DESIGN Canberra 2017.
