Silvio Apponyi and Pamela Griffith: Opening event
Silvio Apponyi embarked upon his career as a full time sculpture in the late 80s and works from his studio in Adelaide. As well as working in large and often life sized forms, Silvio creates magnificent Netsuke miniatures. His carvings are truly remarkable for their realism ,beauty delicacy and spirit. Collectors worldwide seek his works and Silvio is the recipient of many awards. Painter and Printmaker Pamela Griffith is a well-known and popular Australian artist, trained in Sydney and has taught at colleges and secondary schools before setting up her own Griffith Studio workshop in 1974. Her talent is multifaceted with subject matter ranging through portraiture, drawings landscape and still life. Above all her art reflects a love for the history landscape flora and fauna of Australia with A large proportion of her work utilises the medium of etching.
