Studio Furniture 2018

Studio Furniture 2018 is an exhibition showcasing national studio furniture makers, highlighting current developments in Australian studio furniture design and making. This is the third time that the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery has hosted this studio furniture exhibition, with each exhibition offering new ideas and ways of making to start a dialog between makers, collectors and buyers.

The intention of this Studio Furniture 2018 exhibition is to showcase and encourage the next generation of studio furniture makers to secure the ongoing viability and success of the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery now celebrating its 35th year.

The exhibition brief is to create well considered and crafted pieces made with saleability within a gallery context in mind. The design and finish presented will communicate a studio furniture attitude; that is, an emphasis on individually designed and made work. Each piece will show a high level of thought and detailing so as to distinguish it from mass-produced manufacture.

By definition studio furniture wrestles with the dual notions of artist expression and functionality in terms of decoration and practical use. The exhibition is produced by Australian Wood Review in partnership with Bungendore Wood Works Gallery, presented by Felder Group Australia and sponsored by Branch_95.
