Taglietti People EXHIBITION

As part DESIGN Canberra’s celebration of the work of Enrico Taglietti, Design Canberra, working with PhotoAccess, have commissioned Mark Mohell to do a series of new portraits. The portraits will be on exhibition until close of the Design Canberra Festival.

Italian-born and trained, Taglietti featured in the Museum of Modern Art 1979 exhibition, Transformations in Modern Architecture. As you know, the architect’s distinct and highly personal design character is expressed through his use of unusual sculptural shapes and angles, cantilevered planes of roof and deck, and concrete. Taglietti’s contribution is significant: his thoughtful detailing, aesthetics and sense of place have helped to shape Australia’s national capital, home to the most ambitious and most successful example of twentieth century urban planning in Australia: ‘Taglietti learnt from his experiences to construct his own ideas, not to be a follower of any architectural group or style, and to figure out ways to have the architecture connect with the city and its surrounding landscape.’ (Paula Favaro)
