Peter Minson I Patricia Parker
In celebration of more than 100 years of their collective journey in glass ‘The Artist and the Maker’ brings Peter and Patricia together to create collaborative work that reflects their quite separate artistic journeys.
Peter’s career in glass began with his apprenticeship in his family’s scientific glass blowing studio that has evolved to the creation of his own world-recognised art. Peter is acknowledged as a master of his craft as a Lampworker. From 1970 to 1983 in conjunction to Lampwork Peter operated a furnace in Sydney and then in Paris Creek Adelaide. In 1979 he was invited to study Furnace glassblowing at the Orrefors Glass School in Sweden. Today Peter continues to be much sought after as a teacher and mentor at his Studio at Binalong.
Patricia’s journey in glass began in 1978 with 2 classes at a local stained glass outlet. From 1982 to 1994 Patricia was represented by one of Canberra’s leading Galleries after which she opened the Studio Gallery at her residence in Duffy.She added kiln-formed glass to her practice in 1999. She has undertaken short courses in kiln-casting and cold-working at the Canberra Glassworks. Patricia was recognised by Craft ACT as an Accomplished Practitioner in 2000.
