Lines, webs and surface textures are the common threads of Canberra artists Sue Hewat (Ceramics) and Sara Freeman (Paintings). Both source their inspiration from coastal light, and the textures and rhythms of nature, creatively pushing the boundaries of their chosen mediums. Sue blends wheel thrown ceramic forms with her own clay slip painterly monoprints, carving and glaze, to create objects that portray her intuitive impressions of fluctuating sea, sand and tidelines. Sara builds slowly constructed fields of colour out of multiple layers of wax and egg tempera, carving and washing away the surface in a meditative practice that traces the interface between time and presence.
