Unit of Measure is a research project by Melbourne based creative practice U-P investigating appropriation in design —the use of space, objects, language or image by its user in a way not imagined by its designer. In this project, U-P take a universally sized object into the urban landscape and uses it to survey. In this exhibition, they used a standard sized basketball. Unit of Measure provides U-P with the opportunity to explore and observe their city surroundings – learning through measuring. It encourages them to see and engage with build form in a different way.
