Please join us for the unveiling of DESIGN Canberra’s Civic Square installations and programs.

Centrally located on the axis between City Hill and Mt Ainslie, the DESIGN Canberra festival hub will reconnect Civic Square with the original vision of the Griffins’ plan and an exciting contemporary vision for Canberra, a city of design.

As part of the 2019 festival theme of Utopia, the iconic site will be home each working week to talks, panel discussions, designer presentations, tours, music, pop-up bars and a wellness program of yoga and social running. Hands on workshops will also be presented in the square, including by illustrator Peita Blyth who will create a large-scale map telling the stories of our city centre.

The centerpiece of Civic Square is a large painted ground design by artist and designer Megan Hinton, and a temporary sculptural pavilion designed by the University of Canberra Faculty of Arts and Design’s design team led by Max Maxwell.
