Water, Light and Land
Forester, landscape architect, urban designer, rower, kayaker; a life embedded with the landscape strongly informs Kath Wellman’s painting and textiles. Oil painting on paper or canvas often focused on the water, the interplay of light and shade, movement and stasis. These places are loved; her garden and property at Hall, Rosedale, Lake Burley Griffin and rowing. Additionally there are paintings from her recent trip to Italy. The Ikat textiles are inspired by the coast. Designed by Kath , interpreted by weavers from Sumba in Eastern Indonesia these textiles are hand dyed with vegetative and mud dyes and hand woven on a back-loom.
The exhibition can be viewed during opening hours or by appointment.
