Phone x Stitch invites makers around Canberra to use the relationship between textiles and technology to explore the idea of the phone. Digital devices are an increasingly important part of our daily lives, especially in the wake of COVID-19 which required a physical distance that for many, was bridged by technology. Through the act of craft, Phone x Stitch transforms the screen from a digital space into a place for contemplation as participants create a contemporary embroidery.
This project has been funded by the ANU School of Art and Design Emerging Artist Support Scheme John and Elizabeth Baker Design Award received by the artist in 2019.
