In the first Design Means Business event in Canberra, AGDA in partnership with the Public Sector Innovation Network is offering a rare insight into design-business and innovation in government for the Design Canberra Festival.
Join our speakers to explore how good design is transforming government, business and industry. As pioneers in the public service of end-to-end user-centered design they will walk through how they are adapting and innovating to develop better platforms and outcomes. They will demonstrate the ROI of good design and how design is used to deliver better solutions in government – you will rethink the way government and business can work together.
We seldom have the opportunity to speak directly to those leading design-business in government, now is your opportunity to unravel the mystery and give yourself a leg up. After the presentations we will have an open Q&A with the speakers.

Lisa Mollard, Assistant Director DFAT InnovationXchange
Lisa Mollard is the Assistant Director in the InnovationXchange, running ideas 2.0 – the second departmental ideas challenge and supporting DFAT’s internal and whole of government innovation agenda. Lisa has been with DFAT [and the former AusAID] for over 10 years, in a variety of roles including gender advisor to South and West Asia, Departmental Liaison Officer to the AFP and responsible for Australia’s largest scholarships program – the Australia Awards and Volunteering Programs to Indonesia, where she lived 2008-2011. She is a project manager and economist by training and a single mother to 11 year old, Emily.
Janna McCann, General Manager of BizLab
Janna has over 25 years’ experience in business strategy and innovation having worked with a range of cross sectoral Fortune 500 organisations throughout Australia, Asia and the United States. She has a passion for innovation and its ability to improve the lives of individuals and society. Janna has deep expertise in the areas of Design Thinking, qualitative and quantitative research and Strategic Commercialisation gained through working across start-ups, SME’S and multi-nationals to drive value creation through innovative solutions, capabilities and creative problem solving cultures. Janna in now the General Manager of BizLab, the department of Industry, Innovation and Science innovation lab.
