Not everyone can make it to Darwin each August to the Aboriginal Art Fair. Luckily, Canberrans can see and experience some of the incredible work being produced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists at DESIGN Canberra. At Designs from the Bush you can buy unique, hand-crafted works, including fibre sculpture, jewellery, fibre craft, textiles, fashion accessories and apparel, designer homewares and more. All funds from purchases will directly support the Art Centres.

The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation is owned and operated by a membership of Indigenous Art Centres, which play a vital role as meeting places in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They are cultural keeping places which provide employment, training and educational opportunities. Each year, the Foundation showcases the work of emerging and established artists from more than 50 Art Centres from across Australia. The four-day Fair represents more than 2,000 Aboriginal artists and coincides with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards. It is the only national event of its kind.
