Matthew Curtis and Harriet Schwarzrock have been professional artists for many years. Working with blown glass, they predominantly make sculptural work for exhibition, but also functional objects. Both artists work with molten glass, using a furnace to custom tint coloured glass. With a studio at the back of their home, their practice is a moving feast. It is also, at times, a raucous family affair. Matthew currently works from Canberra Glassworks as the inaugural 2014 Creative Fellow. His work combines an interest in organic architecture with abstraction of the microscopic structures of plant forms. Harriet’s sculptural work addresses the duality between complexity and simplicity and seeks to find movement in stillness. Her work holds both tension and a sense of floating. Matthew and Harriet exhibit widely internationally and their work is found in public and private collections.
