MI-WALLET was born under one concept—to create a product that would make people think about design. Domingo Morchio shows how things can be created out of almost nothing by re-using existing materials. When MI-WALLET made its entrance at the MODERN Markets (2013 and 2014) with its unique product, visitors said how delighted they were to interact direct with the designers. They were delighted at watching how each wallet is made folding a single sheet of newspaper, with the designer carefully selecting the best image for the front and then laminating the product for strength. MI-WALLETS come in various styles and sizes and all are 100% hand made. DESIGN Canberra visitors will be able to watch this fascinating process and gain a better understanding of how upcycling—converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality—is fabulous for our environment. MI-WALLET will hold demonstrations and talk to visitors about its incredible process, and have on hand wallet samples for purchase.
