The DESIGN Canberra festival will return in 2020, from 9 to 29 November. With just 6 weeks to go, it’s time to start thinking about your personal festival schedule. The popular open studios program is a great place to start and the team at home by holly have enjoyed a sneak peek of a selection of studios. It’s such a privilege to visit beautiful artist studios to see these truly creative environments and learn more about the amazing artists who work in our suburbs, and make Canberra such a wonderful place to live.
DESIGN Canberra’s middle weekend features work by artists in Canberra’s beautiful inner north suburb of O’Connor. Valerie Kirk weaves beautifully textured tapestries which hang in the Australian National University and other significant collections. Her charming studio in the backyard of a Tocumwal Cottage in O’Connor will have work for sale and a display of her drawings and other stunning textiles.
Nearby, fellow textiles artist Sharon Peoples’ beautiful garden studio provides her with endless inspiration for her hand and machine embroidery which is held in a national collections. Sharon will share some of her creative process in demonstrations to visitors to her studio.
The home by holly team is proud to be a platinum sponsor of the DESIGN Canberra festival once again in 2020. There’s never been a more important time to support local, creative and community.
