Nurture full program announced

DESIGN Canberra today announces the full program for its ‘Nurture’ program which will be presented from 5-28 November instead of the annual festival which has been postponed to 2022. Design Canberra presents Nurture, draws on the well documented benefits of creativity to support wellbeing and is aimed at supporting Craft ACT members and the Canberra community during this difficult time.

The program is specifically tailored to focus on the well-being aspects of creativity, making and crafting as tools for health and recovery; and as an antidote to the stresses brought about by the pandemic. In response to the challenges and uncertainties of our time, Design Canberra presents Nurture will expand opportunities for artists to develop their skills, forge marketplace connections, develop new work and build visibility for their craft.

CEO of Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre, and Artistic Director of DESIGN Canberra, Jodie Cunningham said, After the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 DESIGN Canberra festival, the Craft ACT team has responded with optimism and persistence to the many challenges that 2021 has thrown us – we are finding new ways to support our members and  our community and deliver on our mission: To embed contemporary craft, making and design at the centre of everyday life in Australia’s capital, a global city of design. We are so excited to use the tools we know best, creativity, design thinking; and making as ways to help our community heal and transition out of lockdown
