DESIGN Canberra and Rolfe Classic BMW are calling for students and professionals to submit Bauhaus-inspired designs for the 2019 BMW Car Wrap Competition.

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the iconic Bauhaus design movement, this year’s competition has a Bauhaus theme. Proposed designs should pay homage to the iconic Bauhaus design movement which redefined what design could do for society and reflected the utopian ideas of its time. The Bauhaus advocated for an understanding of composition, colour theory and craftsmanship.

Interested designers of the car wrap are encouraged to view the design briefing from the 6^th of September at University of Canberra, that is now available online.

The briefing takes students and design professionals through the competition’s vision, guidelines and technical specifications, as well as BMW’s history, design process and principals.

The winner will have their design applied to the new BMW 1 Series, as well as receive a BMW Ultimate City Escape package. The BMW Ultimate City Escape includes: a BMW for the weekend, a Midnight Hotel accommodation package which includes a nights’ accommodation for two at Midnight Hotel including parking, breakfast & dinner for two at Braddon Merchant. The prize also includes a gourmet pizza lunch for two with a glass of wine at Four Winds vineyard in Murrumbateman. Prize value of $1,500.

The car will be exhibited for the DESIGN Canberra festival at the Rolfe Classic BMW showroom in Phillip. The winner will also receive copies of professional photographs of the wrapped vehicle taken at Rolfe Classic BMW Open Day on the 9th of November.

Entries must be received by 10am Monday 28 October 2019 and will be judged by a panel of Canberra-based design professionals. Entry to the competition is free.
