Alison Jackson is a gold and silversmith whose practice spans across jewellery and tableware.

Fusing aesthetics with functionality, Jackson’s tableware is particularly noteworthy, and includes a production range of finely crafted stainless steel cheese tools, butter knives and spoons – produced using a combination of traditional and small scale manufacturing techniques. Jackson’s elegant exhibition work includes, amongst other pieces, stunning hand raised copper and silver bowls. Jackson’s work is highly functional and considered, whilst retaining a unique character and unexpected playfulness.

Graduating in 2008 from the ANU School of Art Gold & Silversmithing workshop she immediately established her own workshop space, Pocket Studio. The workshop has now developed into a fully equipped Silversmithing studio where Alison runs her own full time practice as well as sharing her knowledge through a program of short courses. Jackson has exhibited throughout Australia and Germany, and has won a number of awards. Most recently in 2015, Alison was the recipient of an Australia Council New Work Grant and awarded the Canberra Critics’ Circle Award for her 2015 solo exhibition at Craft ACT, Table Tools.

Pairing fine hand-making skills with industrial processes and highly customised tooling, each product is crafted by hand, in Alison’s workshop.
