Open studio: Sharon Peoples

Sharon Peoples has worked as an artist in Canberra for over 20 years, exhibiting nationally and internationally as well as taking on commissioned work. Her art practice focuses on textiles, both hand and machine embroidery. Peoples’ work has been collected by national (National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia and Parliament House Collection) and state institutions. She oscillates between hand and machine embroidery. She is a keen gardener in Canberra’s somewhat harsh environment and loves the birds that come and chat in her garden. In recent years Sharon Peoples has been exploring gardens through portraits: the inner secret garden, artists’ gardens and gardens of the imagination.

At Sharon Peoples’ open studio small garden embroideries, cushions, embroidery designs and embroidery kits inspired by the shoes of Ballets Russes, as well as postcards will be for sale.
